Migrate your podcast to Pod Promo

Move your existing show — every episode, artwork, and all — without losing a single listener.

Already have a podcast somewhere else? Good news: moving it here is mostly automatic.

You paste one link. We copy everything over. Then you point the podcast apps at your new feed.

  • Your listeners keep listening. Nothing interrupts them.
  • Your episodes keep their original publish dates.
  • Your part takes about 15 minutes. We handle the heavy lifting.

Will my subscribers notice? No. If you follow the steps below — especially the redirect in Step 5 — your show simply keeps playing in their apps. Same show, new home.

Before you start

A few quick things to check at your current host:

  • Find your RSS feed URL. Every host has one. Look for “RSS feed,” “Feed URL,” or “Distribution” in your dashboard.
  • Don’t cancel your old hosting plan yet. You’ll need it live for two more weeks. This matters — more on why below.
  • Save your stats. Download or screenshot your analytics. Play counts and download numbers can’t move between hosts — that’s true everywhere, not just here.
  • Turn off dynamic ads (if your old host inserts ads into your audio). Otherwise those ads get baked into the imported files permanently.

Step 1: Start the import

  1. Sign in and go to Your shows.
  2. Choose New show, then Import an existing show.
  3. Paste your RSS feed URL and click Preview.

Not sure you have the right link? Paste your show’s public page instead — we’ll try to find the feed for you.

We’ll read your feed and show you what we found: your show title, artwork, episode count, and total audio size. Nothing is imported yet — this is just a preview.

If we tell you “this feed has moved,” click Use the new feed. Your old host is pointing us somewhere newer, and importing from there gets you the latest episodes.

Step 2: Review your show details

Before the import starts, you can adjust:

  • URL slug — your show’s web address, like podpromo.ai/my-show. We suggest one from your title. Pick carefully — it can’t be changed later, and it becomes part of your new feed URL.
  • Title and description — pulled from your feed. Tweak them if you like.
  • Cover art — we keep your existing artwork unless you upload a replacement.

Happy with everything? Click Start Import.

Step 3: Let it run

Now we download every episode from your old host and store it here. You’ll see live progress, episode by episode.

  • You can close the tab. The import runs on our servers, not in your browser.
  • We’ll email you when it’s finished.
  • Big back catalog? Large shows can take a while. That’s normal.

A few episodes might show as Skipped — that happens when an episode in your feed has missing or unsupported audio. Everything else imports fine.

If any episodes show as Failed, there’s a Retry failed episodes button. One click, and we try them again.

Step 4: Check your new show

When the import finishes, open your show and look around:

  • Every episode should be there, with its original publish date.
  • Show notes, artwork, and transcripts (when your feed included them) come along too.
  • Your new feed is already live at:
https://podpromo.ai/your-show-slug/feed.xml

That URL is the key to the next step.

Step 5: Point the podcast apps at your new feed

This is the important one. Right now, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and the rest still read your old feed. Two things fix that:

Set up a redirect at your old host

Think of this like forwarding your mail when you move house. The redirect tells every podcast app: “the show lives at a new address now — go there.”

  1. Log in to your old host.
  2. Find the redirect setting. It’s usually called “Redirect feed,” “301 redirect,” or “Set new feed URL.”
  3. Paste your new Pod Promo feed URL (from Step 4) and save.

Update the big directories directly

Redirects work, but the biggest platforms are worth updating by hand too. It takes five minutes and removes all doubt:

Your show’s Distribution page in Pod Promo lists these links, plus a snippet you can add to your old feed if your old host supports it.

Once the redirect is set and the directories are updated, you’re done with the hard part. Your listeners’ apps switch over quietly in the background — usually within a day or two.

Step 6: Wait two weeks, then cancel your old host

Don’t close your old hosting account right away.

  • Podcast apps check feeds on their own schedules. Some take days to notice the redirect.
  • Keeping the old feed live (and redirecting) for at least two weeks gives every app time to follow you over.
  • After two weeks, it’s safe to cancel your old plan. Your show page in Pod Promo even counts down the days for you.

Quick way to check it worked: paste your old feed URL into a web browser. If it forwards you to your Pod Promo feed, the redirect is doing its job.

What moves — and what doesn’t

Comes with you:

  • Every episode’s audio, exactly as uploaded — we never re-compress your files
  • Original publish dates and episode order
  • Show notes and descriptions
  • Show and episode artwork
  • Transcripts and chapters, when your feed includes them

Doesn’t come with you:

  • Play counts and analytics history (no host can transfer these — save yours first)
  • Reviews and ratings (those live with Apple, Spotify, etc. — and they stay attached to your show as long as you update the feed, not start a new listing)

Common questions

Will there be downtime? No. Your old feed keeps working until apps switch to the new one. Listeners never see a gap.

Something went wrong mid-import. Did I break anything? No. Your old host is untouched — we only read from it. You can retry failed episodes, or delete the imported episodes and start the whole import fresh.

Can I import more than one show? Yes — one at a time. Finish (or cancel) one import before starting the next.

I’ve lost access to my old host. Can I still move? Yes, as long as your old feed is still online, we can import from it. You won’t be able to set a redirect, so updating Apple Podcasts and Spotify by hand (Step 5) becomes essential.
