Moving from Spotify for Creators (Anchor)

Set up the feed redirect that moves your Anchor show to Pod Promo — followers and all.

This guide covers one step of your move: telling Spotify for Creators (the host formerly known as Anchor) to forward your old feed to Pod Promo.

Do this after your episodes have finished importing into Pod Promo. Not there yet? Start with the full migration guide.

Your Spotify listing survives the move. Your show’s Spotify page, followers, and history all stay put — Spotify just starts reading episodes from your Pod Promo feed instead. Nobody has to re-follow you.

Before you start

  • Finish your import on Pod Promo and check that every episode made it.
  • Using paid Subscriptions? Turn them off in the Monetize tab first. The redirect won’t work while they’re active.
  • No public RSS feed yet? Shows created on Anchor sometimes don’t have one until you switch it on. Go to Settings → Availability → RSS Distribution and enable your RSS feed — you’ll need it for the import too.
  • Copy your new Pod Promo feed URL. It looks like https://podpromo.ai/your-show-slug/feed.xml — you’ll find it on your show’s Distribution page.

Set up the redirect

Use a desktop web browser — this can’t be done from the mobile app.

  1. Log in at creators.spotify.com.
  2. Go to Settings, then the Availability tab.
  3. Find the RSS Distribution section.
  4. Look for Redirect your podcast.
  5. Paste your Pod Promo feed URL into the box.
  6. Click Redirect.

Spotify’s redirect is slow. Most hosts flip over in minutes — Spotify says theirs can take up to 7 days to complete. That’s normal. Don’t panic, and don’t delete anything while you wait.

After the redirect is live

  • Check it worked. Paste your old feed URL into a web browser. It should forward you to your Pod Promo feed.
  • Update the other big directories by hand — Apple Podcasts, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music. The main migration guide shows you where. (Your Spotify listing updates itself as part of the redirect.)
  • Wait at least a week before touching your Spotify for Creators account — that’s Spotify’s own minimum. Since the account is free, the safest move is to leave it alone for 45 days or more.
