Moving from Captivate
Set up the feed redirect that sends your Captivate listeners to Pod Promo.
Last updated
This guide covers one step of your move: telling Captivate to forward your old feed to Pod Promo.
Do this after your episodes have finished importing into Pod Promo. Not there yet? Start with the full migration guide.
Captivate is different from most hosts. Setting the redirect and closing your show happen in one step — and once you do it, you lose access to that show’s dashboard. Finish everything else first.
Before you start — this part matters
Because the redirect closes your show, do all of this before touching the redirect:
- Finish your import on Pod Promo and check that every episode made it.
- Download your all-time analytics. Once the show is closed, you can’t get them.
- Turn off dynamic ads and dynamic content on the show. Captivate makes you confirm you’ve done this.
- Copy your new Pod Promo feed URL. It looks like
https://podpromo.ai/your-show-slug/feed.xml— you’ll find it on your show’s Distribution page.
Set up the redirect
- Log in to Captivate and open Podcast Settings. If you host more than one show, double-check you’re on the right one.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Cancel Show.
- Choose I’m moving my podcast elsewhere.
- In the RSS redirect field, paste your Pod Promo feed URL.
- In the host dropdown, pick Other (or your new host if listed).
- Check both disclaimer boxes — they confirm you understand the redirect and have removed dynamic content.
- Click Close Show and Add 301 Redirect (on some accounts this button says Move Podcast).
Closing the show does not cancel your Captivate billing. If this was your only show, cancel your subscription separately — otherwise you’ll keep getting charged.
After the redirect is live
- Check it worked. Paste your old Captivate feed URL into a web browser. It should forward you to your Pod Promo feed.
- Update the big directories by hand too — Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music. The main migration guide shows you where.
- Captivate recommends the redirect stay active at least 45 days. Their docs don’t promise it lasts forever after account closure — one more reason to update Apple and Spotify manually.
- Already deleted your account? Email support@captivate.fm and ask them to add the redirect for you.
