Moving from Libsyn

Set up the feed redirect that sends your Libsyn listeners to Pod Promo.

Last updated

This guide covers one step of your move: telling Libsyn to forward your old feed to Pod Promo.

Do this after your episodes have finished importing into Pod Promo. Not there yet? Start with the full migration guide.

Before you start

  • Finish your import on Pod Promo and check that every episode made it.
  • Download your analytics from Libsyn. Stats don’t transfer between hosts.
  • Copy your new Pod Promo feed URL. It looks like https://podpromo.ai/your-show-slug/feed.xml — you’ll find it on your show’s Distribution page.

Set up the redirect

Libsyn has two dashboard versions. Follow whichever matches what you see.

Classic Libsyn:

  1. Log in at libsyn.com and open Settings from the main menu.
  2. Click Redirects in the left sidebar.
  3. Paste your Pod Promo feed URL into the Feed Redirect URL box. Include the https:// part.
  4. Optionally, paste your Pod Promo show page (like https://podpromo.ai/your-show-slug) into Page Redirect URL — this forwards your old Libsyn website too.
  5. Click Save, then confirm with the green Yes button.

Libsyn 5:

  1. Click the gear icon at the top, then Settings.
  2. Open Advanced Tools.
  3. In the Feed & Website Redirects row, click Edit.
  4. Paste your Pod Promo feed URL and save. (Only the show owner can edit this.)

One redirect covers all of Libsyn’s feed variations at once — you don’t need to repeat it per destination.

One extra step Libsyn recommends

Libsyn’s redirect doesn’t automatically add the “new feed URL” tag that tells podcast apps to switch. They document a manual step for it:

  1. In your feed settings, find the Extra RSS Tags box.
  2. Add this line, with your own feed URL:
<itunes:new-feed-url>https://podpromo.ai/your-show-slug/feed.xml</itunes:new-feed-url>
  1. Save.

Do both — the redirect and the tag. Together they cover every podcast app.

After the redirect is live

  • Check it worked. Paste your old Libsyn feed URL into a web browser. It should forward you to your Pod Promo feed.
  • Double-check which feed URL the directories actually have. Open your show in Apple Podcasts Connect and confirm the feed URL listed there redirects. (Libsyn shows can have more than one feed address floating around.)
  • Update the big directories by hand too — Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music. The main migration guide shows you where.
  • Libsyn says redirects stay in place even after you close your show — generous. Still, keep the account for a few weeks to be safe.
  • Already closed your account? Email support@libsyn.com and they can place the redirect for you.
