Submit to Apple Podcasts

Step-by-step guide to getting your show listed on Apple Podcasts with Podcasts Connect.

Apple Podcasts is the biggest podcast directory in the world, and many other apps pull their listings from it. It should be your first submission.

The whole process takes about ten minutes of your time, plus a review wait on Apple’s side.

What you need

  • An Apple Account (the same one you use for iCloud or the App Store — free to create)
  • Your show’s RSS feed URL — copy it from RSS & distribution in your dashboard
  • At least one published episode and finished cover art (see the pre-submit checklist)

Step-by-step

  1. Go to Apple Podcasts Connect and sign in with your Apple Account.
  2. Click the + button and choose New show.
  3. Choose Add a show with an RSS feed.
  4. Paste your feed URL and click Add.
  5. Apple reads your feed and shows a preview. If something is missing (cover art, category, and so on), it tells you here — fix it in your show settings on Pod Promo, then refresh.
  6. Answer the content rights question (does your show contain third-party content?) and set your update frequency.
  7. Click Publish to send it for review.

That’s it. You do not need to come back and do anything per-episode, ever.

The review wait

  • Apple reviews every new show by hand.
  • Most shows are approved within 1–3 days; some take up to a week.
  • Apple emails you when the status changes. “Pending” just means “in line” — it is not a rejection.

Once approved, Apple checks your feed about once a day. New episodes usually appear within 24 hours of publishing.

If Apple asks you to verify ownership

Sometimes Apple wants proof that you control the feed — especially if you are claiming a show that already exists in their directory. Apple gives you a short claim token for this.

Pod Promo has a built-in spot for it:

  1. In Podcasts Connect, copy the token Apple shows you
  2. In Pod Promo, open your show and choose Edit
  3. Paste it into the Apple Claim Token field and save
  4. Back in Podcasts Connect, continue the verification — Apple re-reads your feed and finds the token

You can remove the token after verification succeeds.

Troubleshooting

  • “Can’t read your feed.” Open your feed URL in a browser. If it loads for you, wait a few minutes and try Apple again.
  • Artwork rejected. Apple enforces the specs strictly: square, JPG or PNG, at least 1400×1400 pixels. See cover art requirements.
  • Rejected for content or metadata. Apple’s email says why. Fix the issue in your show settings, then resubmit — rejections are not permanent.
